39:1 你岂知道岩穴中野羊的产期，观察牝鹿怎样生产﹖
Do you know about the birth of the mountain goats, watch for the birth pangs of the hinds, 39:2 你岂能计算它们怀孕的月分，预知它们生产的日期﹖
Number the months that they must fulfill, and fix the time of their bringing forth? 39:3 它们伏下产子之后，产痛立即过去。
They crouch down and bear their young; they deliver their progeny in the desert. 39:4 幼雏健壮，在原野中长大；它们一离去，即不再复返。
When their offspring thrive and grow, they leave and do not return. 39:5 谁使野驴任意游荡，谁解去悍驴的绳缰﹖
Who has given the wild ass his freedom, and who has loosed him from bonds? 39:6 原来是我叫它以原野为家，以盐地为居所。
I have made the wilderness his home and the salt flats his dwelling. 39:7 它耻笑城市的吵闹，听不到赶牲者的呵叱。
He scoffs at the uproar of the city, and hears no shouts of a driver. 39:8 它以群山峻岭作自己的牧场，寻觅各种青草。
He ranges the mountains for pasture, and seeks out every patch of green. 39:9 野牛岂肯为你服役，在你槽边过宿﹖
Will the wild ox consent to serve you, and to pass the nights by your manger? 39:10 你岂能以绳索系住它的颈项，叫它随你耕田﹖
Will a rope bind him in the furrow, and will he harrow the valleys after you? 39:11 你岂能依靠它的大力，任凭它去作你的工作﹖
Will you trust him for his great strength and leave to him the fruits of your toil? 39:12 你岂能靠它将麦捆运回，聚集在你的禾场上﹖
Can you rely on him to thresh out your grain and gather in the yield of your threshing floor? 39:13 驼鸟的翅翼活泼，它的翼翎和羽毛岂表示慈爱﹖
The wings of the ostrich beat idly; her plumage is lacking in pinions. 39:14 他将卵弃留在地，让沙土去温暖；
When she leaves her eggs on the ground and deposits them in the sand, 39:15 它不想人脚能踏碎，野兽能践坏。
Unmindful that a foot may crush them, that the wild beasts may trample them, 39:16 它苛待雏鸟，若非己出，虽徒受痛苦，也毫不关心。
She cruelly disowns her young and ruthlessly makes nought of her brood; 39:17 因为天主使它缺乏智识也没有赐它悟性。
For God has withheld wisdom from her and has given her no share in understanding. 39:18 但几时它振翼奔驰，就要讪笑骏马和骑士。
Yet in her swiftness of foot she makes sport of the horse and his rider. 39:19 马的力量，是你所赐﹖它颈上的长鬃，是你所披﹖
Do you give the horse his strength, and endow his neck with splendor? 39:20 你岂能使它跳跃如蚱蜢﹖它雄壮的长嘶，实在使人胆寒。
Do you make the steed to quiver while his thunderous snorting spreads terror? 39:21 它在谷中欢跃奔驰，勇往直前，冲锋迎敌。
He jubilantly paws the plain and rushes in his might against the weapons. 39:22 它嗤笑胆怯，一无所惧；交锋之时，从不退缩。
He laughs at fear and cannot be deterred; he turns not back from the sword. 39:23 它背上的箭袋震震作响，枪矛闪烁发光。
Around him rattles the quiver, flashes the spear and the javelin. 39:24 它一闻号角，即不停蹄，急躁狂怒，不断啃地。
Frenzied and trembling he devours the ground; he holds not back at the sound of the trumpet, 39:25 每次号角一鸣，它必发出嘶声，由远处已闻到战争的气息，将领的号令和士卒的呐喊。
but at each blast he cries, "Aha!" Even from afar he scents the battle, the roar of the chiefs and the shouting. 39:26 鹰展翅振翼南飞，岂是由于你的智慧﹖
Is it by your discernment that the hawk soars, that he spreads his wings toward the south? 39:27 兀鹰腾空，营巢峭壁，岂是出于你的命令﹖
Does the eagle fly up at your command to build his nest aloft? 39:28 它在山崖居住过宿，在峭峰尖上有它的堡垒；
On the cliff he dwells and spends the night, on the spur of the cliff or the fortress. 39:29 由那里窥伺猎物，双眼注视远方。
From thence he watches for his prey; his eyes behold it afar off. 39:30 它的幼雏舔食鲜血。那里有尸体，它就在那里。
His young ones greedily drink blood; where the slain are, there is he.
